Drolls

Droll was originally a synonym for trolls. Trolls were originally giants in Norse mythology who turned to stone when exposed to sunlight. Trolls were also in early Scandinavian folklore. In later legends, trolls were often the size of humans or smaller.


Droll now sometimes means a short and thick person.

In Dragon Quest, drolls are hideous monsters who live in dungeons. They appear to be a giant head with short stumpy legs, finlike arms, and eyes connected by eye-stocks.
