News: March 20013.31.2001More Dragon Warrior 7 US Release HintsEnix has added more to the site introduction movie. Now not only is there the picture of a ship and island, but there is also a scene of the ocean. These images are from Dragon Quest 7. 3.29.2001Warrior Dragon ReviewsI wrote a review for Warrior Dragon, a Dragon Warrior clone. It can be found at MadMonkey.net with other reviews. More Dragon Warrior Clones I found a couple more Dragon Warrior Clones at the Darkness Ethereal game developer site. It has two obvious Dragon Warrior clones: Mysterious Song and Bubba's Fantasy. Dragon Warrior Remake: RPG 2000 Phillip Knowlton sent me an email to let me know he has remade the original NES Dragon Warrior 1 using RPG Maker 2000 and Dragon Quest 6 tilesets. Right now the townsfolk graphics are from RPGMaker but he will replace them with Dragon Warrior 6 graphics. The monsters are also from RPGMaker. If you get a chance to try it out please email me to send me your comments or a review. Dragon Warrior Monsters 2 Enix of America announced Dragon Warrior Monsters 2 to be released in 2001. There will be 2 versions: Cobi's Journey and Tara's Adventure. Dragon Fantasy Dragon Fantasy now has its own website! Dragon Fantasy is a fan-made game based on Dragon Warrior with some elements of Final Fantasy. Dragon Warrior 3 GBC Preview I found a pretty detailed preview of the Dragon Warrior 3 Game Boy Color remake. 3.19.2001Dragon Quest Monsters 2 Got First PlaceAccording to Famitsu Dragon Quest Monsters 2 got first place in Japan between March 5th to March 11th with 501,081 sales. This was Dragon Quest Monsters 2's first week so the high sales aren't surprising considering the popularity of Dragon Quest in Japan. Second place was EXTERMINATION with measly 59,464 sales. The other Dragon Quest games were still on the top 30 in Japan. If you click on the icon when AIM is running it should offer to make it your personal icon. For some reason when I try that it seems to think the file is over 7kb but it isn't and it works if you just do it manually... 
Dragon Warrior 3 Preview The Game Boy Color remake of Dragon Warrior 3 was previewed by the Pocket IGN. It will be released July 2001. Dragon Warrior 3 Screen Shots ClassigGaming.com added screen shots to the Game Boy Color remake of Dragon Warrior 3. The Dragon Warrior font is gone, but Kandar and Ortega seem to have kept their names... Dragon Warrior 1&2 Review Two excellent reviews were added to GameCritics.com. The first was done by a person who was already a fan of the series, but the second was done much more critically by somone used to newer RPGs. They both have very important points and gave the game 9/10. Dragon Warrior 3D A small demo for Dragon Warrior 3D has been released.
3.15.2001Chrono WarriorChrono Warrior is a Chrono Trigger and Dragon Quest 6 crossover being made with RPGmaker 2000. The Dragon Quest 6 character sprites will be remade to have a more Chrono Trigger design. The game designer needs to know the Dragon Quest 6 character's peronalities and relationships. Dragon Quest Clone Translation This is a project to translate Shinsenden, a Dragon Quest clone made for the NES in Japan by a professional company. So far mostly the menus have been translated. Dragon Warrior Legend - New URL The Dragon Warrior Legend website is now at http://www.mastercain.com/rpgking/ Dragon Warrior Search Engine The Dragon Warrior Search Engine still exists but it isn't currently a standard section of Dragon-Warrior.com. The reasons I got rid of it as a standard page: 1. It should be part of the directory (or possibly just on the main page for any kind of search) 2. It is extremelly difficult to update and is not as currently up-to-date as the Directory (or internal site organization). 3. The search engine I originally had doesn't work with the "banner option" I am using right now for my domain. (That's why it is at jimgray.tripod.com). The new banner option adds banner code after the body code of the javascript. I changed the banner option because my message board had some pages I couldn't insert a tag on that assures a banner ad. 4. the new javascript search engine that gives you the choice of which section to search for doesn't seem to be giving very good results (without butting a + before each word). 5. Newsletter 34 I finished Newsletter 34. 3.2.2001Dragon Warrior 3DDr. Jones decided that Dragon Warrior 3D will be based on the original Dragon Warrior game (DW1). He also started the Dragon Warrior 3D Message Board. 3.1.2001Dragon Quest Monsters 2 PreviewThere will be 300 monsters. That is 100 more than the original Dragon Quest Monsters. Some monsters from Dragon Quest 7 as well as some completely original monsters will be in Dragon Quest Monsters 2. The two-player link mode (that previously allowed players to have their monsters fight) will be expanded. Battle mode will have new options such as deciding on limiting monster and ability types available during in the two-player battles. Since the objective of Dragon Quest Monsters 2 is collecting keys, those can also be traded during the two-player link mode. After peeking at the monster artwork it seems quite clear that the Dragon Warrior series has been getting weirder and weirder monsters. In the original Dragon Warrior game for the NES nearly all the monsters were based on mythology or history. |
