Dragon Quest 6 Translation
A new patch for Dragon Quest 6 has been released at Dejap. Here is what Dark Force had to say:

NoPrgress has done some great work on his own with DQ6 (before we teamed up with him). This patch is 100% his translations and hacking work. A NPR/DeJap version will follow shortly. NoPrgress's patch is about 1/3rd done and features many hacks not yet included in the DeJap patches. Get it from the DQ6 page, it's the Version D patch. Enjoy! Link to NoPrgress' site.

Torneco no Daibouken Translation
Wow I found this one on time! The Torneco no Daibouken Translation Page released today an early alpha patch because of the recent US release of its sequel (Torneko: the Last Hope). Here is what was mentioned in their site news:

We really hate to do this, (no really, WE REALLY HATE DOING THIS!) Anyway, because it is a special occasion today (well, actually Friday was), we are going to release a VERY early Alpha patch for this game. What was so special about Friday? Heh, TnD 2 came out from Enix on playstation. So, it is only fitting that you have TnD 1 in some form to play for SNES first. We would have liked for it to be a completed project at this point, but that didn't work out. So, instead, we decided to release the completed alpha patch. With this patch everything is supposed to be inserted (this is the patch from the very first time it was). This patch, however, has no script editing or bug fixes of any shape or form. We don't know how buggy it is. Possibly VERY buggy. The script is in very raw form and could bleed over a million times. The naming screen is definitely hosed. But still, the release of the sequel does deserve the release of the first game in some form. So, enjoy.

Dragon Quest Sales
The Dragon Quest/Dragon Warrior News Network got a hold of Dragon Quest sales statistics provided by Famitsu.

Dragon Quest for the PC
RPGking posted this interesting message on the Dragon Quest/Dragon Warrior Shrine's Message Board:

Over the past week, I started to actually create a PC Dragon Quest game that I wrote a story for a while back. So far I've got the first overworld map done, and the first town down(In just 3 days). I'm keeping the graphics somewhat like Dragon Quest IV/V(to cut down on development time). And I'll post screenshots of it sometime soon...

Dragon Warrior Game Maker
I received this message from someone who needs to obtain graphics for a Dragon Warrior game maker. He would at least like to know how to rip graphics from an SNES ROM if possible. Here is the message:

I am looking for someone who can rip the graphics out of Dragon Warrior I'II remix (the SNES game). I want to make a Dragon Warrior construction kit, so that fans can create Dragon Warrior type games using a point-and-click interface. I have prior experience with this kind of thing (see http://dragonengine.rpgmaker.net for my Ultima IV/V engine). I would base the Dragon Warrior project off of this same source code. Before I begin, I need a set of graphics to work with & Dragon Warrior III remix has the ideal look & feel for what I want to do. So if you can help me with this please email me at: litmus_dragon@mailcity.com

Site News and Updates
I replaced my site updates section with a drop box with the news. I converted all the newsletters into monthly news archive pages with the same format. I will keep my updates page for fun, but replaced it as a major section with the Dragon Warrior Dice RPG since it will no longer be updated.

Torneko: the Last Hope Preview
RPGamer.com added a preview to Torneko: The Last Hope with 7 screen shots.

Interview with the Dragon Quest Producer
Gamers.com has a translated interview with the maker of Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy producers in the same room by Famitsu. The interview is mostly about Dragon Quest 7. The producer of Final Fantasy (Hironobu Sakaguchi) had played part of Dragon Quest 7 and had some interesting impressions of the game.

New Poll
I added a new poll on a mystery of Dragon Warrior: Why didn't anyone help the Dragon Warrior 1 hero? I also made a little animation to go with it! Thought I was done making 'em huh?

Torneko is Out!
Torneko should be out starting today.

FAQ Update
I answered more questions on the Dragon Warrior game releases in the Dragon-Warrior.com Site FAQ.

Newsletter Problem
I wouldn't be surprised if no one received a newsletter I sent November 13th. My newsletter service is having technical difficulties. I thought it would be fixed quickly but I was wrong and I have no idea when it will be fixed. Hopefully very soon. Make sure you take the important poll on the frequency of my newsletters. I'm debating about making them monthly instead of weekly still. The poll and newsletter are found in the 11.13.2000 news.

Rhone Site URL Change and Update
Please update your links to Rhone. It is now at http://www.rhone.cjb.net/. I updated it in the Dragon Warrior Search Engine.

Dragon Warrior Monsters 2
According to Game Spot, Dragon Quest Monsters 2 will be released March 20, 2001. I can't actually read the page since it is in Japanese. I obtained this information from Dustin's Message Board from Orgo Demila's post.

A few English sites have now given attention to the release date of Dragon Quest Monsters 2. Basically there will be two versions of the game. The most informative article was by Gamers.com
Dragonlord Baby

Dragon Quest Midis
Dragon Saga Densetsu added 8 midis for Dragon Quest 5, 6, and 7.

New Update Format
Starting with all the updates I sent in my last newsletter, I will now use this format for my updates. Since my updates basically now include any Dragon Warrior news I can get a hold of I will now call it Dragon Warrior News.

Newsletter 19
I finished Newsletter 19.

Important Poll!
I am still debating whether to make my Dragon Warrior Newsletter weekly or monthly. This issue is an example of what it would be like if I keep it weekly. By making the newsletter basically the same as my site's updates I could save a lot of time and easily send it weekly with a few extra goodies. If I make my newsletter monthly I will make it basically the same way I always have, but only have the most interesting articles. Please take this poll: Would you rather have my newsletter sent monthly or weekly?

Dragon Quest 5 and 6 Translation Projects
At DeJap Dark Force updates us on the progress of the Dragon Quest 5 and 6 translations.
  • The Dragon Quest 5 translation is apparently no where near beta testing. (According to _Niel there actually aren't many problems left with the translation but people working on it are busy, and hopefully beta testing will start sometime in December).
  • He hopes for a Dragon Quest 6 translation updated patch around Nov. 21st.

Dragon Warrior Challenge
Challenge Games is working on an improved hack of Dragon Warrior 1 called Dragon Warrior Challenge. It will be harder then the old version and have a whole new story.

Pirated Dragon Quest Cartridges
I found a few pirated NES cartridges of Dragon Quest from a couple sites. I believe all were on cartridges containing several games. The first is Dragon Quest 6 where you played a princess (and yes on the 8-bit system). Dragon Quest 6 was found on a ROM titled fight.nes. The ROM happened to have 8 games on it, like the 2nd cartridge (by Chui) containing Dragon Quest 2 (but has pictures from Dragon Quest 3). Coincidence?

Breeding a SpotKing
I added a picture of a baby SpotKing bred by two Spot Slimes.

I added 19 sites to the Dragon Warrior Search Engine:

11.5.2000

Dragon Quest 5 Translation
The Partial Translations site is back up! This group is translating Dragon Quest 5 and is in a nice and is in a "happy beta testing stage. The testers are/will be testing various assembly level hacks and the like to make sure that the patch you all end up with is somewhere near 100% free of bugs." To check on the Dragon Quest 5 translation click on the Dragon Quest 5 logo on the home page.

Torneco no Daibouken Translation The Torneco no Daibouken project (Taloon's Great Adventure for the Super Nintendo) has a new page and is working on two game fonts. The last news update was made on 10.20.2000.
