Dragon Warrior 1.2 GBC Remix
The Dragon Warrior 1 and 2 Game Boy Color Remix has been released! So far its surprised some people about how much faster it is to get through (resembling the Super Famicom remake). Monsters both seem generally easier to fight and give more experience. Key monsters such as the green dragon you need to defeat to save the princess should be more difficult, but should also offer a much larger reward.

Some people have been confused over the new save system. You can now save at any time in the game, but if you do save the game using that feature it merely pauses the game. This means if you die you can't merely return to the save point right before you died, like you might be used to in Final Fantasy.

Dragon Warrior 1.2 GBC Remix Mistakes
So far I've read about two mistakes in message boards. The most notable is that when you use the Stones of Sunlight, the text describes the Staff of Rain in a confusing way, "(hero's name) held aloft the RainStaff. But nothing happened." A less important mistake is that when you turn off the game to save the text replaces the word "reset" with "rest" when referring to the reset button.

Dragon Warrior 1.2 GBC Remix Poll and Box Art
RPGfan.com finally added the box art scans to Dragon Warrior 1.2 and made a new poll to see if people liked the old English language of the first Dragon Warrior translations.

Dragon Quest 3 Remix Translation
Locke has interviewed Crimpshrine about Illuminus' Dragon Quest 3 remix translation project and posted it on his site, Dragon Warrior Returns. Apparently there has been some recent difficulties in translating the game...

Unless Lock fixed the problem, the interview is only viewable with Internet Explorer. If you want to view it with Netscape you have to highlight the invisible text.

Dragon Quest 3 GBC Remix
Enix of Japan has announced the release of Dragon Quest 3 for the Game Boy Color. Hopefully it will make it to the US (likely considering the recent release of Dragon Warrior 1.2 for the GBC).

Japanese Dragon Quest Fan Projects
A Japanese page of mysterious ROMs has been brought up again on Dustin's Message Board. These are believed to be made by fans using the Dragon Quest 1 and 2 Super Famicom Remix graphics.

These games were made to be played on the X68000 computer, so in order to play them you need the Ex68 emulator and a translation patch.

Dragon Quest 7 Town Building Cheat
Apparently you can not only build towns in Dragon Quest 7, but cheat big time to build an empire. Ian Kelly described the method in which you can have flourishing towns: "Basically what I did is get a ton of people in Forish, (since 2 people show up there) then made about 5 copies of the save file. I copied it to another memory card, then started swapping large numbers of people. The method I used I got off a Japanese website."

Dragonlord's Personality Profile
I know everyone really wants to know what the Dragonlord is like. When doing a search online for the Dragonlord I found this nice information on his personality (in a baby-names thingy).

Dragon Warrior Animation Gallery Link Update
For those of you who haven't updated your links to my site yet please do so! It is actually no longer called the Dragon Warrior Animation Gallery. It is now Dragon-Warrior.com (at that URL). Some people go to the old URL and think they were tricked into going there (since its not the Dragon Warrior Animation Gallery.)

I also made a new button and banner and banner for my site. The banner is at http://www.Dragon-Warrior.com/banner-dragon-warrior2.gif.

Dragon Quest 7 ZDNet.com Review
This review of Dragon Quest 7 stands out in that it doesn't highlight the good elements of Dragon Quest 7. A problem with many people today is they don't confront opposing views with an open mind. It's bias to only show positive reviews for a game, especially when opposing ones exist. Obviously not everyone like Dragon Quest and it could be nice to know why. This review gave it 7/10 which isn't that bad, and some reasons were explained for not having a perfect score.

This review does have some Dragon Quest bashing. It claims that Dragon Quest is pretty good (with little explanation) but holds onto the use of poor graphics and special effects (characteristic of all of the Dragon Quest games). If you liked Dragon Warrior before that obviously wouldn't effect you.

I agree to the point that a good story isn't a good excuse to have poor graphics. My problem with that argument is I personally don't know why poor graphics would bother someone so much. We played Nintendo and it had poor graphics but at the time it didn't bother anyone. Apparently graphics for early Playstation games are now considered poor. I don't see it that way, and personally If I played a game so much for the graphics I would surf the net for fantasy art.

The biggest flaw in the article is it only explains the negative elements of the game. It is mentioned that the game has a good story and job system, but it isn't explained (It got 7/10). The review also takes the position that Dragon Quest 7 is ancient in every way when from the other reviews and an interview with the makers they claim how innovative the game is. The new ideas in the game may not be from technology but that's not the only quality of a game that counts.
